Turn the Talk Christmas Meetup

Turn the Talk reflects on its first year and hosts a Christmas Meetup.

Launched at the start of 2019, Turn the Talk is a project launched by Adtraction’s UK Managing Partner, Anjulie Blunden, in partnership with global affiliate management agency, Acceleration Partners.

The project was founded to broaden the voices heard in the performance marketing sector, with a mission to create greater diversity, by empowering people to step forward.

The project initially identified a need to raise awareness in performance marketing, to ensure that it is properly representing the people that work in it, by broadening opinions and diversifying contributors.

It’s been a busy year for the initiative, starting with a webinar on International Women’s Day hosted by PerformanceIn which discussed what more can be done to ensure gender balance at conferences and on panels. In May the project uncovered the findings from the industry’s first independent survey into public speaking. The report addressed barriers to public speaking, how inclusive and freely available opportunities are, and what support is needed to encourage new voices to take to the stage. In July the project held its first workshop, a free event which provided an inclusive environment for anyone interested in developing their confidence in public speaking. It was attended by over 70 people from the performance marketing industry.

To close the year, on Tuesday 3rd December Turn the Talk will host an informal networking drinks event, hosted at Adtraction UK’s office. The event will provide an opportunity for people to come together to talk about the project. There will also be an opportunity to provide feedback on what initiatives and events Turn the Talk should focus on in 2020.
